The saying 'Que sera, sera' - (loosely meaning whatever will be, will be) was popularized in 1956 when a song with this title was introduced in the Alfred Hitchcock film 'The man who knew too much' sung by Doris Day.
Grammatically incorrect and unable to accurately trace its root back to French, Italian or Spanish - a version of the phrase was used as an English heraldic motto dating back to the 16th century.
